ROLE
Lead Product Designer
Bose Gaming Headset
Bringing a new consumer product category to market by designing an experience that connects physical hardware, digital interactions, and real-world user needs.
The Challenge
As Bose expanded into gaming, we faced an interesting design challenge: how could we bring the company's established audio experience into a category with fundamentally different interaction needs?
The QuietComfort 35 II Gaming Headset combined Bose's noise-cancelling headphones with a detachable gaming microphone and dedicated desktop controls, creating a product designed for both everyday listening and gaming.

Exploration
Traditional headphones and gaming headsets serve overlapping but different needs.
Everyday listeners value portability, comfort, music quality, and simple connectivity.
Gamers also need reliable voice communication, immediate audio controls, and compatibility with gaming platforms.
The challenge was creating an experience that could move between these contexts without feeling like two disconnected products.
